I’m reminded how important imagery and photography is. How important it is to be able to re-live a moment or hour or day. While selecting images and crafting this post it was like being back in the past, on that day, with this amazing couple! The fun, the excitement, the tears of joy (mine included) the warm sun and perfect light.
A small backstory: Fabien had contacted me from Germany, wanting to surprise his girlfriend Vanessa and treat her to a photoshoot. Vanessa is a wedding photographer herself, so I was honoured to be booked. He planned everything months in advance!
We agreed to meet on Signal Hill for sunset shots and to then move down to Camps Bay beach to round off the day. When they arrived we all clicked straight away as we walked Signal Hill to find the perfect space to shoot in. We chatted about their trip, where they were going, what they were excited to see, like old friends who had known each other for years!
By the images you can see that these two are mad about each other. From the onset they were so “with” each other that I didn’t have to direct once!
And then…as I turned to change a lens, my hubby casually says “you might want to turn around, he’s on one knee”. The excitement was real people!!! Ahhhhhhhhh MAN! And there it was. Vanessa said YES!
Down we went to the beach. The sun was setting. The weather was showing off. The two of them were AMAZING!! My heart was full. Wine was had. Numbers were exchanged. The two of them jetted off to Mantra Cafe for dinner and we went home. So happy!!
And the next day we met again at Dunes…because thats what old friends do, right? 😉
Thank you Vanessa and Fabien for including me on this day! And congratulations!! I loved every moment. x
